Inflation index for March 2024 - 100.5%.
According to the State Statistics Service, the consumer price index (inflation index) in March 2024 was 100.5%.
Inflation in the consumer market in March 2024 compared to February 2024 amounted to 0.5%, and 1.2% since the beginning of the year.
In the consumer market, prices for food and soft drinks decreased by 0.2% in March. Eggs fell the most (by 16.4%). Prices for sugar, lard, pork, sunflower oil, processed cereals, vegetables, and milk decreased by 2.5-0.3%. At the same time, prices for fruit went up by 4.1%, and prices for beef, dairy products, butter, poultry, bread, soft drinks, and pasta rose by 1.6-0.3%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 0.4%, driven by a 1.3% rise in tobacco prices.
Clothing and footwear went up by 12.9%, including clothing by 13.3% and footwear by 12.5%.
Transportation prices increased by 1.7%, mainly due to a 4.4% rise in rail passenger transportation fares and a 2.7% rise in fuel and oil prices.
In the communications sector, prices increased by 0.5% due to a 15.7% increase in local telephone tariffs.
It is worth noting that the Ukrstat also calculates the core consumer price index, but this indicator is a sub-index of the consumer price index and is used for a different purpose.
In March 2024, core inflation was 1.0% compared to February 2024, and 1.8% since the beginning of the year.
