PACE to offer financial assistance in case of return of Ukrainian refugees home
The PACE Committee on Migration has approved a draft resolution on finding immediate and long-term solutions to support displaced Ukrainians.
The document calls on the Council of Europe member states to provide funds for resettlement and reintegration assistance to Ukrainians returning home after the war.
This was announced by Pavlo Frolov, MP from the Servant of the People faction, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada's temporary investigatory commission on the protection of IDPs' rights.
In addition, the parliamentarian added, the draft resolution contains a proposal to grant permanent residence in the EU to Ukrainians after three years of residence.
"As the chairman of the parliamentary commission on the protection of the rights of IDPs and other victims, I was invited to a meeting of the PACE Migration Committee in Paris to share my views on the situation of internally displaced persons in Ukraine and the necessary steps to address their urgent problems," informed Pavlo Frolov.
He spoke about the measures that Ukraine is taking to this end, and called on the members of the Parliamentary Assembly, both directly in PACE and in the national parliaments of its member states, to take steps to increase financial and humanitarian assistance to internally displaced persons in Ukraine to prevent their displacement to EU countries or to the temporarily occupied territories.
"Voting on the relevant resolution in PACE is scheduled for the plenary session in June," said Pavlo Frolov.
