Citizens and businesses can now import power equipment on a preferential basis
The situation in the energy sector has stabilized due to the early completion of repairs at two nuclear power plants and a drop in air temperature. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a Government meeting on July 30.
At the same time, the Government continues preparations for the autumn-winter period and the development of alternative generation sources. Programs of state support for the construction of distributed generation have already been launched and there are first examples of lending to businesses and individuals to strengthen energy resilience.
"We observe a steady demand for concessional lending from both small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and households," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of Government noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had signed a law on the abolition of import duties and VAT for energy equipment. The law came into force on July 27.
"Now, citizens and businesses can import power generators, inverters, batteries, charging stations, etc. on a preferential basis," the Prime Minister said.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized that attracting assistance from partners is another way to strengthen the energy sector. He noted that the Ministry of Energy has set up a group to coordinate international assistance. And the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine has already accumulated more than 550 million euros in contributions.
"Every week we receive specific assistance from states, international organizations and institutions. We are working with our ENTSO-E partners to increase Ukraine's capacity to import electricity before the onset of winter," the Prime Minister said.
