The VRU adopted the Law on Protection of Interests of Owners of Land Shares
On August 20, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine on Protection of Interests of Owners of Land Shares (Units) and Application of Administrative Procedure in the Field of Land Relations, finalized by the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy in accordance with part eight of Article 135 of the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Reg. No. 11150).
The adopted Law provides, in particular:
- Extension of the period for registration of unclaimed (unallocated) land plots, distribution of land plots between owners of land shares (units) and their heirs of land remaining in collective ownership after the distribution of land plots (from 2025 to 2028)
- restoration of the mandatory professional development of certified land surveyors (currently, the rule is suspended for the period of martial law).
- Extension of the pilot project on entering information into the State Land Cadastre by certified land surveyors until 2026;
- allowing the use of funds received by the respective budgets as compensation for forestry production losses for the development of working land management projects and the implementation of measures envisaged by these projects;
- establishing that the funds from compensation for agricultural losses that remained in local budgets before the abolition of the institution of agricultural production losses are spent on land protection.
