There are three months left. All business cases will be audited in Ukraine, and some will be put on hold

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has instructed law enforcement agencies to audit all criminal cases against businesses within three months. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the relevant decision of the National Security and Defense Council, which was put into effect by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Thus, in its decision, the National Security and Defense Council recommended that the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Police, the Bureau of Economic Security and the Security Service of Ukraine conduct an audit of registered cases against businesses and restrictions imposed on them in these cases within three months.

In addition, the NSDC recommended that the investigation of cases against businesses be put on hold for three months if it could block business activities.

The NSDC also instructed to develop effective mechanisms to protect businesses from possible abuses by law enforcement agencies based on the results of the audit.

NSDC decisions on business in Ukraine

Today, the National Security and Defense Council held a meeting on business. As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address, the meeting adopted decisions on economic security and stability during the period of martial law in the country. In particular, the National Security and Defense Council decided to form a Council for Business Support.

Also, according to Zelenskyy, the government should submit amendments to the law on the Bureau of Economic Security and some other laws to minimize the potential for any possible pressure on "white", legal businesses.

Scandalous business cases in Ukraine

Recently, a scandal broke out in Ukraine over a criminal case against Ukrainian businessman and head of the investment company Concorde Capital, Ihor Mazepa. Law enforcement officers detained him at the border when he was allegedly on his way to the Davos Economic Forum.

Mazepa is suspected of organizing a scheme to illegally seize the land of the Kyiv HPP. The scheme also allegedly involved employees of the State Geocadastre. Last Friday, the court sent Mazepa to a pre-trial detention center on bail of almost 350 million hryvnias.

However, today the Court of Appeal reduced the bail to UAH 21 million, after which Mazepa was released from the jail.
