The Bureau of Economic Security gained access to the database of fingerprints and digitized faces of citizens
Employees of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES) have gained access to the system of biometric verification and identification of Ukrainian citizens, the Judicial and Legal Newspaper reports.
The Cabinet of Ministers introduced the relevant amendments to clause 5 of the Regulation on the National System of Biometric Verification and Identification of Ukrainian Citizens, Foreigners and Stateless Persons, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1073 of December 27, 2017.
These amendments include the BES in the list of entities of the national biometric verification and identification system in order to provide BES employees with access to the information contained in this system.
As a reminder, biometric data (parameters) are digitized fingerprints and a digitized facial image.
For the purpose of biometric identification of a person, the interaction of the subjects of the national system is carried out in the form of requests and responses in the form of data sets that may contain information on the surname, name, patronymic (if any); date of birth; gender; place of birth; passport document and its electronic form; biometric data (parameters); crossing the state border; other information.
The national system also includes the State Migration Service, the State Border Guard Service, the National Police, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, foreign diplomatic missions, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, and the Ministry of Defense.
