Ukrainians withdrew a record amount of savings in January - NBU

In January, Ukrainians withdrew UAH 27 billion from their deposit accounts, a record withdrawal since the introduction of martial law in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Ekonomichna Pravda reports. This is stated in thereport of the National Bank of Ukraine.

In January 2024, the total volume of household deposits in the banking system decreased by 2.5% - by UAH 27.4 billion, leaving UAH 1.05 trillion on the accounts (from UAH 1.078 trillion at the end of 2023).

The overall decline in residents' deposits in banks amounted to 2.1%. Thus, the total amount of deposits decreased by UAH 49.2 billion to UAH 2.35 trillion. The statistics take into account deposits of both households and businesses.

Entrepreneurs withdrew UAH 22 billion in January.
