Rada supports customs clearance of cars in Diia

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted in the first reading Draft Law No. 10380, which allows customs clearance of vehicles in Diia. This approach will fully automate the process and make it impossible to abuse.

This was stated by MP, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Digital Transformation Serhiy Shtepa.

"Today, the process of customs clearance of vehicles involves direct human intervention. Due to the lack of clear criteria for evaluating vehicles, we understand that there may be any abuse, because the customs value of a car depends on how it is prescribed by the customs inspector. With this draft law, we will fully automate this process," the politician noted.

He explained that the Ministry of Digital Transformation proposes to create a register of vehicles with their customs value, which will be pulled up from the database. Thus, human involvement will be completely excluded from this process, which will reduce corruption risks to zero.

"All information about the vehicle will be pulled up automatically, thanks to the VIN code. It will be enough to enter the VIN code of the vehicle that a person wants to clear, and the system will automatically calculate the cost of customs clearance. I am confident that this will also help to ensure that the process is fast and transparent, so that people do not have to stand in lines for coupons and in physical queues for customs clearance," the MP said.

He also emphasized that by introducing customs clearance in Diia, citizens will pay the real cost of customs clearance of their vehicles.
