Ukraine will raise the maximum electricity price for business

The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) has raised the maximum ceiling prices for electricity for businesses to increase the volume of imports at night. According to RBC-Ukraine, this is stated in the decision made during the commission's meeting on May 20.

As noted, the new prices will take effect on June 1.

The following maximum price caps have been set for the day-ahead market

• from 00:00 to 07:00 and from 11:00 to 17:00 - 5600 UAH/MWh (currently 3000 UAH/MWh)
• from 07:00 to 11:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00 - 6900 UAH/MWh (currently from 07:00 to 08:00 - 5600 UAH/MWh)
• from 17:00 to 23:00 - 9000 UAH/MWh (currently 7500 UAH/MWh).

The minimum price cap remains at UAH 10/MWh.

On the balancing market:

• from 00:00 to 07:00 - 6600 UAH/MWh (currently 4000 UAH/MWh)
• from 7:00 to 17:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00 - the price remains 8250 UAH/MWh.
• from 17:00 to 23:00 - 10,000 UAH/MWh (currently 8250 UAH/MWh)
• from 23:00 to 00:00 - 8250 UAH/MWh (currently 4000 UAH/MWh).

A representative of Centrenergo said during the commission's meeting that the price cap increase would help balance the electricity market.

According to a representative of Donbasenergo, the NEURC's decision will make it possible to increase imports to 1.7 GW not only in the evening but also at night.

It is worth noting that at night, Ukraine sees a decline in electricity imports, as under the current electricity price caps, imports are unprofitable. Due to the lack of electricity, industrial and household consumers were cut off at night.
