Inflation index for May 2024 - 100.6%.

According to the State Statistics Service, the consumer price index (inflation index) in May 2024 was 100.6%.

In May 2024, inflation in the consumer market amounted to 0.6% compared to April 2024, and 2.0% since the beginning of the year.

In the consumer market, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.9% in May. Fruit prices rose the most (by 10.4%). Prices for vegetables, rice, fish and fish products, bread, dairy products, sugar, pasta, meat and meat products, and butter increased by 1.3-0.4%. At the same time, eggs fell by 14.3%, and prices for lard, milk, and dairy products decreased by 1.7-0.4%.

Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 0.7%, due to a 1.4% rise in tobacco prices.

Clothing and footwear fell by 1.5%, in particular, clothing by 1.7% and footwear by 1.4%.

The 0.9% increase in healthcare prices was primarily due to a 1.2% rise in prices for pharmaceuticals.

Transportation prices increased by 0.9% mainly due to a 1.1% rise in fuel and oil prices.

It should be noted that the Ukrstat also calculates the core consumer price index, but this indicator is a sub-index of the consumer price index and is used for a different purpose.

Core inflation in May 2024 was 0.3% compared to April 2024, and 2.8% since the beginning of the year.
