The MFA has significantly expanded access to consular services abroad

On July 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs significantly expanded access to consular services abroad: 24 institutions in 20 countries were added.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine continues to implement its policy of expanding access to consular services: since July 15, the list of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine that provide services using the State Register of Civil Status Acts has almost doubled.

An additional 24 institutions in 20 countries have gained access to the register. These are the embassies of Ukraine in Austria, Algeria, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, France, Hungary, Morocco, Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the United Kingdom, the United States and the United Arab Emirates, as well as consulates in Edinburgh, Belzec, Dubai, Nyiregyhaza and Brno.

Thus, starting from July 15, a total of 48 institutions in 31 countries of Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania, as well as Africa and the Middle East will have access to this register.

Access to the State Register of Civil Status Acts means that Ukrainian citizens will be able to obtain repeat certificates issued by civil registry offices in Ukraine (birth, death, change of name, marriage, divorce); extracts from the Register of registered acts (birth, death, change of name, marriage, divorce). From now on, additional foreign diplomatic missions will provide such services and carry out other work in the field of state registration of civil status acts using the means of the Register.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to make consular services for our citizens abroad as accessible as possible, and their list is constantly expanding. We are currently implementing the largest single-scale expansion of the geography of access to the State Register of Civil Status Acts. This creates new opportunities for Ukrainian citizens residing in these twenty countries and demonstrates the care of the Ukrainian state to them," said Dmytro Kuleba, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The expansion of access to consular services was made possible by the joint efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. This was preceded by a large-scale technical and organizational work to update and modernize software systems, as well as to train qualified personnel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to work on simplifying access to consular services abroad and connecting all foreign diplomatic missions to the register by the first half of next year.

Such steps are being taken in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 66 of January 24, 2023 "On Ensuring the Exercise of Powers by Foreign Diplomatic Missions of Ukraine in the Field of State Registration of Civil Status Acts under Martial Law".
