NBU proposes to create a register of "drops"
To combat money mules and "drops," the National Bank proposes changes to legislation, including the creation of a relevant register, Ekonomichna Pravda reports.
This was announced by Deputy Governor of the NBU Dmytro Oliynyk during a meeting of the temporary investigative commission on economic security.
It is noted that the relevant changes are necessary to create even more effective tools to combat the illegal activities of drops. The NBU proposes to create a register of drops and business entities involved in "mystery shopping".
It also proposes to allow payment service providers to block transactions of accounts with abnormal behavior. In addition, the NBU is proposing to limit the powers of enforcement actions against non-bank payment service providers, including restrictions on attracting new customers and restrictions on transactions of a certain type or volume.
It is added that the NBU also proposes to increase liability for participants in the "drops" scheme who voluntarily transferred all their personal data and accounts for use by criminals.
