Tax authorities received information about Ukrainian citizens - creators of content on "Only Fans"
The tax authorities have received information about Ukrainian citizens who create paid content on Only Fans. This was announced by Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Tax Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
According to the MP, the sphere of creating paid content on the Internet platform "Only Fans" by Ukrainian citizens is growing rapidly. The number of accounts increases on average three times a year.
Users receive money for carrying out these activities, and some of them receive large sums of money. "For example, citizen C received over $4 million for creating paid content on the OnlyFans Internet platform over several years. Also, citizen K received over $3 million from this activity, and citizen B received about $1.8 million. How do you like the amounts?" the MP asks.
He reminded that in accordance with the provisions of the Tax Code, a taxpayer who receives foreign income, i.e. income received from sources outside Ukraine, is obliged to file a tax return for the reporting tax year, declare such amounts with their respective taxation.
"While I have a positive attitude towards any earnings not related to violence, I strongly recommend that such citizens fulfill their tax obligation - declare their income and pay taxes," said the MP. He pointed out that failure to file a tax return within the statutory period is grounds for additional tax on the amount of income received at a rate of 18% and military duty at a rate of 1.5%, as well as 25% penalties. "Not to mention the unpleasantness of dealing with the BES. And this applies not only to Only Fans," he writes.
In turn, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak was very surprised by the proposal to declare income from services through OnlyFans. He explains this by the fact that the Criminal Code of Ukraine (CCU) provides for a prison term for services offered on OnlyFans.
He writes: "...but this is some kind of state schizophrenia. For them, filing a declaration will be a direct confession and not even a fine, but a specific prison term. Under Article 301 of the Criminal Code. Because in such a digitized and advanced state in 2024, we still have a criminal article for porn!
So you've got to make up your mind, either we throw them in jail or tax them."
