How can I safely store files on external devices?
Flash drives, memory cards, and external hard drives are convenient tools for storing and transferring data. But they can be dangerous if you don't follow certain rules.
Here are some tips to help keep your data safe when using external devices:
- set your antivirus program to automatically scan external devices when they are connected to your computer. This will help to detect and neutralize potential threats in time;
- disable the autorun function for external devices in the operating system settings. This will reduce the risk of automatic launch of dangerous programs;
- always scan other people's flash drives, memory cards, and external hard drives with an antivirus program before copying files to your computer. This will help prevent the transmission of viruses or malware;
- scan your flash drives, memory cards, and external hard drives with an antivirus program after using them on other people's devices. This will help identify possible threats that may have entered your devices;
- try to avoid using external devices that belong to other people or are used in public places (libraries, shops, etc.). Such devices may be infected with malware.
