The State Customs Service and the State Inspection of Ukraine on Automation and Information Technology coordinate actions to implement control of non-food products

Market surveillance and product control have been restored: TheState Customs Service and the State Inspectorate of Architecture and Urban Development of Ukraine (SIAU) have agreed on actions to implement control of non-food products.

On January 23, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine Serhiy Zvyagintsev and the Head of the State Inspectorate of Architecture and Urban Development of Ukraine Oleksandr Novytskyi.

The meeting was focused on cooperation in the context of the Government's decision of December 2024 to resume state market surveillance and control of products falling under the responsibility of the SIAI, which had been moratoriumed for almost 2 years.

The two agencies are tasked with improving the safety of non-food products on the Ukrainian market and preventing the importation of products, including precast concrete products, that do not meet the established requirements. It is the joint and coordinated actions of the State Customs Service and the SIAI that will allow achieving effective results in this area.

The parties discussed the current state of cooperation and agreed on specific ways to improve its effectiveness. The main emphasis will be on facilitating business activities so that foreign economic operators do not feel the negative effect of state supervision and do not face delays in customs clearance.

Automation of information exchange was identified as one of the main priorities for the development of future cooperation.

The meeting was an important step in the resumption of practical activities of the authorities to ensure product compliance with the established requirements and create effective mechanisms to prevent violations of safety standards for non-food products.
