New electricity tariff will allow certain categories of citizens to save on electricity

Starting February 1, Ukraine will introduce new conditions for the use of electricity for heating. The innovation will affect more than 250 thousand families who will be able to save money thanks to the new tariffs.

This was announced by MP, member of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities Sergiy Nagornyak.

"The government has analyzed that most families that use electricity for heating in winter do not fit the limit of 2 thousand kWh per month. They were forced to pay UAH 4.32 per hour. Therefore, in order to reduce the load and make the preferential tariff work, the government met these families halfway and introduced a new tariff on February 1: up to 2 thousand kWh, people will pay UAH 2.64, and the excess kilowatts will be paid at UAH 4.32," the parliamentarian explained.

According to him, despite this privilege, you can pay even less if you have a two-zone meter.

"If you have such a meter, a family can pay from 23:00 to 7:00 at a rate of UAH 1.32. For electricity consumed in excess of 2 thousand kilowatts, you will have to pay UAH 2.16 instead of UAH 4.32. Therefore, it is important for families with electric heating to have dual-zone meters," the MP emphasized.

He also added that there are no power outages in Ukraine now, as power engineers worked 24/7 in the summer and fall and restored part of the generation that was damaged in 2024. We have also strengthened our air defense and critical infrastructure protection.
