According to the State Statistics Service, the consumer price index (inflation index) in January 2025 was 101.2%.
In January 2025, inflation in the consumer market amounted to 1.2% compared to December 2024, and 12.9% compared to January 2024.
In the consumer market, prices for food and soft drinks increased by 1.2% in January. Prices for vegetables, sunflower oil, soft drinks, bread, butter, processed cereals, meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, fruit, fish and fish products increased by 5.5-0.9%.
At the same time, eggs fell by 23.1%, while prices for pasta and sugar decreased by 0.8% and 0.6%, respectively.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.6%, driven by a 2.3% rise in tobacco prices.
Clothing and footwear fell by 5.5%, in particular, clothing by 5.6% and footwear by 5.4%.
Transportation prices increased by 1.4%, mainly due to a 2.5% rise in road passenger transport fares and a 2.1% rise in fuel and oil prices.
In the communications sector, prices increased by 9.1%, driven by a 29.1% increase in local telephone tariffs and a 15.6% increase in mobile tariffs.
It should be noted that the Ukrstat also calculates the core consumer price index, but this indicator is a sub-index of the CPI and is used for a different purpose.
Core inflation in January 2025 was 1.3% compared to December 2024, and 11.7% compared to January 2024.
