Prices for 100 most popular medicines will be reduced by 30% starting March 1
Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturers have signed a declaration to reduce and stabilize prices for medicines.
Among other things, the signatories agreed to reduce the selling prices of the 100 most popular Ukrainian medicines by 30% starting from March 1. They also proposed measures to create conditions for further price stabilization. The declaration is open for signature by other market participants.
The top 100 most popular medicines, i.e. those that, according to analytical data, are most often purchased by Ukrainians, include 20 items manufactured by Darnitsa, 17 items by Farmak, 22 items by Kyiv Vitamin Plant, 5 items by Kusum Farm, 6 items by Yuria-Pharm, 8 items by Arterium Corporation, 2 items by Viola Pharmaceutical Factory, 3 items by Borshchahivskiy Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant, and 10 items by InterChem.
In particular, the list includes medicines used for coughs and colds, antihistamines, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic drugs, vitamins and minerals, blood pressure medicines, anti-ulcer drugs, sedatives, eye drops, nasal sprays, and others. As areminder, the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated February 12, 2024 "On Additional Measures to Ensure the Availability of Medicines for Ukrainians", enacted by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 82/2025, contains a clear step-by-step plan to reduce and stabilize prices for medicines. In particular, it provides for the introduction of a number of regulations to ensure transparent pricing and proper competition in the pharmaceutical market.
In pursuance of the NSDC decision, the government has recently regulated markups on medicines, banned the practice of marketing payments and resumed inspections by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection to control prices in pharmacy chains. Relevant amendments were made to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 955 "On Measures to Stabilize Prices for Medicines and Medical Devices" dated October 17, 2008.
